With Carnival 2026 now concluded, the stage lighting of the Marquês de Sapucaí Sambadrome confirms its role as an essential element in the artistic construction of the samba school parades. Far beyond simply illuminating the avenue, light was used as a language, rhythm, and narrative, amplifying the visual and emotional impact of the presented themes.

All the schools used stage lighting as a strategic tool to tell their stories. The technology allowed for precise markings, changes in color temperature, dramatic effects, and enhanced allegories, costumes, and choreographic movements, transforming each parade into a truly immersive spectacle.

For Verônica Vale, creative director of the Beija-Flor de Nilópolis samba school's opening act, lighting is a structuring part of the artistic conception.

– Stage lighting marks each point of the performance. We design and mark the light at each moment. Light is part of the narrative. Today, it's impossible to imagine telling a story without using stage lighting as a tool.

According to her, the parade's construction is integrated from the outset with the lighting design, which interacts with the costumes, set design, choreography, and soundtrack.

"It's not an add-on. It's language," he emphasizes.

The special operation involved technical planning and real-time monitoring, ensuring stability, precision, and safety throughout all days of the parades. The integration between artistic creation and technical infrastructure was crucial for the faithful execution of the planned effects.

The president of RioLuz, Rafael Thompson, highlighted the structural and artistic advancements made possible by the investment in stage lighting:
