The only address for issuing the online payment slip is the website carioca.rio - Marcos de Paula/Rio City Hall Residents of the city of Rio have until this Friday (06/02) to pay the single installment or the first installment of the 2026 IPTU. Those who choose to pay in a single installment are guaranteed a 7% discount, the same percentage granted in 2025. The payment guides have been available online since January 21, on the website carioca.rio.
It is possible to download and print all installments of the tax at once. The document can also be requested at the IPTU Service Centers. To issue the payment slip, it is necessary to provide the property registration number, identified on the payment slip from previous years.
For the convenience of Rio de Janeiro residents, IPTU (Property Tax) payments can be made via PIX, using a QR code included in the DARM – Municipal Collection Document, issued on the Carioca Digital Portal. As with other payment methods, the tax settlement will take 2 business days.
The tax can also be paid by direct debit. This payment method must be requested from the bank where the taxpayer has an account, using the direct debit code that is available on the IPTU (Property Tax) payment slip. The municipality is issuing a warning to taxpayers to be aware of internet scams. The Municipal Finance Department does not send communications or payment slips to taxpayers via WhatsApp or SMS. The City Hall's customer service channel for clarifying doubts is the 1746 hotline, and the address for issuing the IPTU (Property Tax) payment slip and installments is Carioca Digital: carioca.rio.
