Porto Maravilha's largest residential building is launched with more than 10% of the 1.472 units sold

Model shows what the residential development in Porto Maravilha will look like - Beth Santos/City of Rio Rio de Janeiro Mayor Eduardo Paes attended the launch of the largest residential development in Porto Maravilha this Friday (16/9). Porto Carioca is located in Praça Marechal Hermes, between the streets Geógrafo Milton Santos and General Luís Mendes de Morais, in Santo Cristo. In total, including the other developments announced in 2021 and 2022, the region already has almost 5 thousand housing units. This represents more than 13 thousand people living in the Port in the coming years – an increase of 45% of the current population of the port region.
– This central area of Rio has all the infrastructure, with trains, subways, light rail, airports, and BRT services coming soon, and people will be close to their workplaces. Now we are beginning to consolidate what I call the second phase of Porto Maravilha. The infrastructure has been built, with the demolition of the Perimetral highway, the creation of the boulevard and museums. Now we want people to come and live here. I have no doubt that this will be an area of real estate expansion in Rio and it will be great to live in the center – said Eduardo Paes.
The president of the Carioca Partnerships and Investment Company (CCPar), Gustavo Guerrante, celebrated the launch of yet another residential complex in the region.
– The development of the Porto Maravilha area continues. With the arrival of so many residential developments, the region is gaining the much-dreamed-of 24-hour occupancy and taking on the feel of a neighborhood. It’s great to walk around the area and see that the buildings are already going up. The expectation is that the first residents will start arriving in the second half of next year.
The Porto Carioca development, by Emccamp Residencial, has two and three-bedroom units in five towers, with gourmet balcony options, in addition to four commercial stores. The apartments are being sold starting at R$299,9 and have a leisure area, as has been the norm in Porto Maravilha developments. So far, more than 10% of the 1.472 units in Porto Carioca have been sold. Construction will begin this year, with delivery expected within 36 months.
– The city is going to gain a wonderful development and we intend, as soon as we have 70%, 80% sold, to look at other lands in the region to launch new ones. The VLT here at the door is a spectacle. I don’t think anyone will recognize downtown Rio in 5, 10 years. Everyone will want to live in the region – said the president of Emccamp Residencial, Regis Campos.
