City Hall promotes prevention actions against arboviruses in neighborhoods of Rio - Fabio Motta / Rio City Hall This week, the Municipal Health Department's (SMS) actions for the prevention of arboviruses (dengue, Zika, and chikungunya) and vector control will be carried out in 17 neighborhoods across all areas of the city. The visits by agents to properties are part of the "SVS na Rua" (SVS on the Street) strategy, which aims to intensify mosquito control efforts. On Wednesday (January 14th), the SVS na Rua event will take place in Praça Seca, Freguesia, Pechincha, and Guaratiba. On Thursday (January 15th), the neighborhoods that will receive the action are Cosme Velho, Tijuca, Ramos, Engenho de Dentro, Colégio, Parque Anchieta, Bangu, Campo Grande, Senador Vasconcelos, Santíssimo, Guaratiba, Santa Cruz, and Paciência.

The Municipal Health Department (SMS) also conducts educational and social mobilization actions to guide the population on measures for the prevention of urban arboviruses, aiming to raise individual and collective sanitary responsibility. When necessary, the population can request inspections or report possible mosquito breeding sites through the 1746 hotline.
