37 stations have already been restored - Disclosure / Rio City Hall

The Vendas da Varanda and Recanto das Garças stations in Santa Cruz and Vargem Grande were reopened on Saturday afternoon (November 6). The Intervention Team, which took over management of BRT Rio in March, has now restored 11 stations. The renovation followed the model adopted by the Intervention Team at the other stations that were restored and handed over to the public.

The teams working on the project took into account serious problems, such as vandalism and evasion (default). All points considered weak in the previous model were changed. The main changes are: replacement of glass panels and doors with hollow iron sheets – which prevents the high rate of glass breakage and allows natural ventilation; embedded wiring and armored door mechanisms; and automatic door locks (they only unlock when the BRT stops at the station).

The services performed include renovation of the roof, ticket office, internal and external painting, new electrical installations and visual programming, lighting reinforcement and installation of guardrails.
