Megabloco attracts more than a million people to the party on Rua Primeiro de Março, in the Center

The first attraction of the weekend that closes the 2025 Street Carnival, Bloco da Anitta attracted around 1,1 million people to the Megablocos Circuit, on Rua Primeiro de Março, in downtown Rio, on the morning of this Saturday (08/03). Dressed as an “Olympic medalist”, Anitta, one of the biggest names in national pop, paid tribute to gymnast Rebeca Andrade and also celebrated artistic gymnastics. The repertoire included funk and MPB hits such as “Show das Poderosas”, “Vai Malandra” and “Movimento da Sanfoninha”, as well as a lot of axé.

– It’s always wonderful to end our Carnival with a flourish, here in Rio. Today, I’m wearing an Olympic medal, specifically paying homage to artistic gymnastics and to Rebeca Andrade, who did so much for us. I think everyone will be very moved – said Anitta, wearing a gold and shiny look.

With the parade, the singer also celebrated the last day of her “Game Marathon” – the theme chosen for her 2025 carnival project, in homage to sports –, which began in January, with the start of the 2025 season of Anitta's Rehearsals. The project went through São Luís, Fortaleza, Salvador, Brasília, Recife, Ribeirão Preto, Belo Horizonte, Campinas, Rio de Janeiro, Curitiba, Florianópolis and São Paulo, and had 100% of its tickets sold. In addition to the capital of Rio de Janeiro, Salvador was also the stage for Anitta's Bloco.

In the middle of the festivities, friends Wallace Almeida and Gerson Gonçalves, who came from Florianópolis to enjoy Rio's carnival, were completing a “marathon” that only ends at dawn, at Marquês de Sapucaí.

– Rio’s carnival is the best, there’s no way around it. We went to Belo’s show yesterday at Terreirão, and now we’re here at this wonderful Anitta bloco. At night, we’re going to Sapucaí to parade with Portela again at Campeãs –, said Wallace, saying that he also watched the children’s parades and that he intends to take part in a neighborhood bloco in Vila Isabel.

 

The festivities continue throughout the day, with parades of groups such as Mulheres de Chico, which gathers at 15 pm in Leme; Superbacana, at 17 pm in Glória; and Vem Comigo Cachaçada, at 13 pm, at Praia do Zumbi, on Ilha do Governador. In total, 18 parades are scheduled for this Saturday, out of the 34 scheduled to parade until Sunday (09/03).

 

Operational Plan for Street Carnival 2025

Expected to attract around six million people over 37 days of festivities, Carnaval de Rua 2025 will have, until March 9, more than 470 performances spread across different regions of Rio.

To ensure that the public enjoys the party safely and comfortably, the City Hall, through Riotur, has prepared a large operational scheme involving CET-Rio, the Municipal Health Department (SMS), Comlurb, the Public Order Department (Seop) and the Rio Municipal Guard (GM-Rio), among other bodies, which will operate at the event locations and in the surrounding areas.

The complete schedule of the processions, with date, time and route, is available on the Blocos do Rio 2025 app, on all digital platforms. The tool is free and works by geolocation.
