Knowledge Ships are open for use by LanTable and Digital Library

Ship of Knowledge - Photo: Paulo Sérgio/City of Rio The City of Rio, through the Department for People with Disabilities and Technology, reopened some units of the Naves do Conhecimento project on September 14. Irajá, Penha, Father Miguel, Santa Cruz, Vila Aliança and Madureira LanTable and Digital Library services have resumed, but access will only be permitted after prior scheduling via WhatsApp, app or website. Courses will continue to be taught online.
The Usina Social Institute, which co-manages these units, is following all safety protocols, including sanitizing all units. The big change is in the advance scheduling that must be done through the Naves website – www.navedoconhecimento.rio -, via the unit's WhatsApp or through the NavesAPP application, available for Android and iOS systems.
Opening hours have also been changed. The Knowledge Ships of Irajá, Padre Miguel, Penha, Santa Cruz, Vila Aliança will operate from Monday to Friday, from 2:6 am to 9:30 pm and Saturdays from 17:30 am to 9:30 pm. The Ship of Madureira will operate from Tuesday to Saturday from 14:30 am to 3:9 pm and Sunday from 30:17 am to 30:9 pm.
Lantable and the Digital Library have had their customer service dynamics adapted. A maximum of 7 (seven) users are being served at a time in the Irajá, Madureira, Penha, Santa Cruz, Vila Aliança Naves and 12 (twelve) users in the Padre Miguel Naves.
The user must remain on the computer for a period of up to 30 minutes for the lantable and 60 minutes for the digital library. After leaving, this area will be isolated for cleaning and the next user will use another computer.
Courses and workshops will continue to be offered on online platforms. In September alone, 8 places were made available for courses and lectures. To register for courses and schedule a time, users should access the website www.navedoconhecimento.rio
