A joint operation by the South Zone Subprefecture and the Municipal Secretariat of Public Order resulted in fines being issued to bars and restaurants - Carolina Castanho / South Zone Subprefecture An enforcement operation carried out in Botafogo and Humaitá, between Thursday night and Friday morning (July 10th), resulted in fines totaling R$ 32.238,99 being levied against bars and restaurants for illegally occupying sidewalks. The operation, coordinated by the South Zone Subprefecture in conjunction with the Municipal Secretariat of Public Order (SEOP), also had the support of the Botafogo Local Executive Management (GEL).
During the inspection, 22 establishments were inspected, and inspectors from the Licensing and Inspection Coordination Office issued 10 infraction notices for the use of tables and chairs in public areas without proper authorization.
According to the sub-mayor of the South Zone, Pedro Angelito, the operations will be permanent to ensure the proper use of public spaces and a harmonious coexistence between residents, pedestrians, and merchants.

In addition to Rua Voluntários da Pátria, the inspection also covered the following locations: Rua Prof. Álvaro Rodrigues, Rua Capitão Salomão and Visconde de Caravelas, in Humaitá.
