The South Zone Subprefecture, in a coordinated action with different departments of the Rio de Janeiro City Hall, collected 2,5 tons of debris and seized structures that were blocking sidewalks in Copacabana on Thursday night (May 28). The inspection, coordinated jointly with the Local Executive Management (GEL) of Copacabana, Comlurb, the Municipal Guard, and police officers from the 19th BPM (Copacabana), was carried out to combat urban disorder.

Among the items seized by inspectors were five cargo carts, two "donkey-drawn carts" (human-powered vehicles), and 290 pirated media items. Three vehicles were fined for illegal parking. To ensure pedestrian accessibility, the operation cleared sidewalks on several streets in the neighborhood, including Avenida Atlântica and Avenida Nossa Senhora de Copacabana, as well as Rua Siqueira Campos, Rua Barata Ribeiro, Rua Dias da Rocha, and Praça Vereador Rocha Leão.

According to the deputy mayor of the South Zone, Pedro Angelito, nighttime patrols in the region will be intensified to curb the spread of disorder, which directly impacts public safety.

"Urban disorder creates space for insecurity. That's why we are intensifying integrated nighttime operations in Copacabana, with firm enforcement and a constant presence on the streets to restore organization, quality of life, and greater security for residents and visitors," said the deputy mayor.

During the mobilization, teams from the Municipal Department of Social Assistance approached 32 vulnerable individuals circulating in the area. The work was supported by the Integrated Territorial Actions Coordination (CATI), linked to the Municipal Department of Public Order (Seop).
