City Hall announces investments of R$70 million in works for the West Zone

Rio City Hall announced this Sunday (12/09) the arrival of the Bairro Maravilha and Luz Maravilha programs to several more areas of the West Zone, which will represent a total investment of approximately R$70 million. Teams from the municipal departments of Conservation, Finance, Infrastructure and Healthy Aging and Quality of Life, and from agencies such as Comlurb and Rioluz, accompanied Mayor Eduardo Paes and listened to the requests of residents of communities in the neighborhoods of Santa Cruz, Paciência, Inhoaíba, Campo Grande and Guaratiba.

 

The Bairro Maravilha program was created by the City Hall with the goal of restoring areas of the city that were not receiving attention from the government. As a result, the streets are being paved, the lighting is new, the sidewalks are being rebuilt, and the streets are being drained. The mayor emphasized that these improvements will be possible because the City Hall is financially organized:

 

– There will be drainage, sewage, sidewalks, all of the best quality. Next Christmas, residents of the West Zone will spend money because their children will ask for skateboards and roller skates to ride on the smooth asphalt. In eight months of administration, we have already adjusted the accounts and, without raising taxes, the City Hall has resources again. Our accounts are already in the black and we have money to do whatever is necessary. We will start to see family clinics improving, and the BRT working. Next Saturday, we will open most of the Cesário de Melo stations again – said Paes.

 

The Municipal Finance Secretary, Pedro Paulo, reinforced in his speech the good financial situation of the Municipality. And he emphasized that it was only possible to recover Rio's economic health because of the efficient management adopted by the city government.

 

– The City Hall is organized. It is possible to look people in the eye and say that we can, indeed, make real improvements – highlighted Pedro Paulo.

 

In addition to sanitation works and LED lighting, some areas will also have revitalized squares. And the elderly will not be forgotten: gyms for senior citizens are planned for some leisure areas.

 

– We surveyed the situation of all Senior Citizens’ Gyms in the city and the places where these facilities are still missing. In Antares and in the Nova Cidade Community, in Inhoaíba, two gyms have already been secured – said the municipal secretary for Healthy Aging, Júnior da Lucinha.

 

The communities in the West Zone included this Sunday in the Maravilha/Luz Maravilha neighborhood were the following:

 

In Santa Cruz: Canaã Cesarão (13 streets, 14.140 square meters), Santa Veridiana (11 streets, 9.623 square meters), Bela Vista (three streets, 3.522 square meters), Colina dos Pássaros (eight streets, 8.732 square meters), Vila Nova (five streets, 5.883 square meters), Vila Verde (three streets, 3.895 square meters) and Antares (Praça do Bino).

 

In Guaratiba: Campo do Saco (11 streets, 2.545 square meters).

 

Inhoaíba: New City (Gas Square) and Vilar Carioca (to be defined).

 

In Patience: Vieiras Road (to be defined).

 

In Campo Grande: Santa Maria (to be defined).
