- City Hall presents institutions selected for the 1st edition of the Human Rights Seal
The Rio City Hall, through the Municipal Secretariat for Social Assistance and Human Rights (SMASDH), published in the Official Gazette this Monday (07/12) the 25 initiatives recognized and eligible to receive the Human Rights Seal – 1st Edition. The certification ceremony is part of the Rio + Humano Festival schedule, and will take place on December 10th, in the City Hall auditorium, with the presence of Secretary Tia Ju.
The award was created as a way of recognizing public and private entities that act in accordance with the principles of human rights and that fight to eliminate all forms of discrimination in access, remuneration, advancement, job permanence and the work environment in the city of Rio de Janeiro.
For the Secretary of Social Assistance and Human Rights, Tia Ju, recognizing actions that promote human rights is important for democracy.
– Democratic principles are based on respect for human rights. Recognizing the actions of companies that promote these rights in an institutional manner is a way to encourage such attitudes to multiply throughout the city – says Tia Ju.
The initiatives registered through the notice were evaluated and ranked in accordance with item 5 of resolution no. 09, of October 08, 2020, by a panel composed of civil servants Bárbara Goes Palhares, Conceição de Maria Nascimento Sousa, Cristiane da Silva Santana, Gláucia Bezerra Pires and Janaína Alessandra de Souza Battaglia Lenzi.
