The city government has completed the revitalization of the recycling center in the Manguinhos Complex and is reinforcing street cleaning efforts on 42 streets in the area.

Photo: Press Release/City Hall The Rio de Janeiro City Hall, through the Subprefecture of Large Complexes and Comlurb, completed on Tuesday (November 25th) the revitalization of the Ecopoint in the Mandela 1 community, in the Manguinhos Complex, North Zone of Rio. The new space, which will operate with two compacting machines and two metal containers for debris, received floor and wall repairs and painting, and will also serve neighboring communities, such as Embratel and Mandela 2.
In addition to the renovation of the recycling center, the region benefited from the "Community of Responsibility" project, which promoted increased regular cleaning on 42 streets in the Mandela 1, Embratel, Mandela 2, and Varginha communities.
"We are bringing improvements to the most vulnerable areas, promoting healthier and more organized environments, and making a difference in people's lives," emphasized Marlí Peçanha, sub-mayor of the Large Complexes and coordinator of the work.
More than 100 sanitation workers, in addition to teams from the Subprefecture of Large Complexes, were mobilized to carry out various services, such as hydraulic washing, mechanical mowing, weeding, sweeping, waste removal, and drain cleaning. The initiative aims to improve living conditions in the region.
"Our communities are already well-served, with a daily routine, but now they are even cleaner and with organized waste disposal. The 'Responsible Community' program is carried out in two stages. In the first, we inspect the region looking for points that still need improvements. In the second stage, the operational teams return to the site to carry out the necessary services identified during the inspection," explained Jorge Arraes, president of Comlurb.
This year, the Subprefecture of Large Complexes coordinated other actions in the Manguinhos Complex, providing health, education, conservation, and cleaning services.
