- The city government has won the CAIXA Sustainable Management seal for the second time.
The headquarters of the Rio City Hall - Marcelo Piu / Rio City Hall The City Hall of Rio de Janeiro received, on Wednesday (December 3rd), the CAIXA Sustainable Management seal. Created by Caixa Econômica Federal (CEF), this is a recognition for municipalities that present public indicators that denote the application of good Governance and Socio-environmental Responsibility practices in local public management. The certificate was presented to the Vice-Mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Cavaliere, at the São Sebastião Administrative Center (CASS), headquarters of the Rio City Hall, and was attended by the Municipal Secretary of Finance, Andrea Senko, the Municipal Secretary of Integrity and Transparency, Rodrigo Corrêa, as well as representatives of the bank.
The municipality of Rio de Janeiro achieved 76 points in the evaluation, considering information collected from various public sources, government systems, and self-reported indices. The Superintendency of Resource Acquisition, an agency of the Municipal Finance Secretariat, coordinated with the City Hall departments to verify the indicators distributed across four evaluation categories: Environmental, Social, Governance, and Climate. Each indicator has a specific weight, which varies according to its importance within the evaluation instrument and represents, through the score, the level of maturity developed by the municipality in each evaluated indicator.
– This initiative is an important instrument for recognizing and encouraging more sustainable practices in the social, environmental, climate and governance spheres – stated the Secretary of Finance, Andrea Senko.
The city of Rio received the seal for the first time in August 2023. In addition to recognizing effective management, the seal guarantees preferential conditions for contracting banking services and products, such as the FINISA Verde and FINISA Transformação Digital products.
– The adoption of sustainable and governance practices is a guarantee that citizens will have access to efficient and responsible public services. This recognition from Caixa is an incentive to continue expanding actions that positively impact people's lives – said the Secretary of Integrity and Transparency, Rodrigo Corrêa.
