The City of Rio, through the Municipal Secretariat for Human Rights and Social Assistance (SMASDH), created an award focused on actions related to the topic and that occurred during the Covid-19 pandemic. This is the “Human Rights Seal” certification for public and private entities that act in accordance with these principles and that fight to eliminate all forms of discrimination in access, remuneration, advancement, permanence in employment and in the work environment in the city of Rio de Janeiro.

Applications for the first call for applications for the seal, conceived in a resolution published on August 1th of this year, will be accepted until November 08th. This first edition will award actions that cover the pandemic period. To apply, you must fill out the Application Form (https://forms.gle/CeKqgREgRBGFGzUM6), as provided for in the Notice.

In total, 50 applications will be validated in order of registration. Of this amount, 25 projects will be chosen to receive certification. The objective is to provide official recognition every two years to public and private entities that follow the principles of human rights. The seal is expected to encourage the creation of new initiatives in this regard.

For the Secretary of Social Assistance and Human Rights, Tia Ju, recognizing actions that promote human rights is important for democracy.

“Democratic principles are based on respect for human rights. Recognizing the actions of companies that promote these rights in an institutional manner gives impetus for such attitudes to multiply throughout the city,” says Tia Ju.
