Rio City Hall opens registrations for online cordel workshop

Photo: Marco Antônio Rezende/City of Rio Rio de Janeiro City Hall, through the Department of Culture, will hold a free online Cordel Workshop on November 3 and 4, open to all audiences. The meeting, via Zoom, starting at 14 pm, is the result of a partnership with the Embassy of Kazakhstan, and the works produced will be in homage to the Kazakh poet Abai Qunanbayuly, who also gives his name to the reading room at the Annita Porto Martins Municipal Library in Rio Comprido.
In a proposal for cultural exchange, the partnership highlights literature and its influence in different territories. Cordel Literature is a traditional literary manifestation of Brazilian popular culture, more specifically from the northeastern interior. The workshop will be taught by the poet, troubadour and member of the Brazilian Academy of Cordel Literature (ABLC), Zé Salvador. During the meeting, participants will learn about the history of the Kazakh poet Abai Qunanbayuly, founder of his people's written literature.
Registrations can be made via the online form (https://forms.gle/xEp2GdcQaiBVGczh7) until November 2. The link, as well as confirmation of registration, will be sent via email to all participants.
