Rio City Hall opens period for enrollment in the Municipal Education Network

New Special Education students (4 years and older and with disabilities) will be able to register from December 18 to 21. For daycare centers, guardians of children aged 6 months to 3 years and 11 months will have from January 5 to 10 to access the website. Internal transfers from Preschool, Elementary School and EJA (4 years and older) will be able to request a change of unit from January 8 to 13. New students in Preschool, Elementary School and Youth and Adult Education (4 years and older) will have the deadline from January 19 to 24. Registration for vacancies at the Escola Municipal Cívico-Militar Carioca will be available between December 14 and 16, in a notice to be published in the Official Gazette of the Municipality.

Poles with free internet

The Municipal Department of Education will provide free internet access to the public in 1.542 schools in the Municipal Education Network for those who are unable to register. Please note that registration can be done via cell phone. Staff will be on site to assist with filling out the form. These stations (schools) will be open to the public from Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 14 pm. Service will follow the Golden Rules established by the Municipal Scientific Committee for hygiene and social distancing to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Enrollment for new Special Education students – December 18-21

To register for Special Education, parents and guardians must access the website and click on “Register” and select the candidate’s origin: he/she studies or has studied at a school/daycare/EDI in the Municipal Network or has never studied at a unit of the City of Rio, for example. If the candidate does not study in the Municipal Network, the guardian, at the time of registration, must select one of the locations indicated on the website so that the candidate can be evaluated and referred to the best pedagogical service. It is important to note the registration number, the day, time and place where the candidate must appear for the evaluation, also bringing any reports that he/she has.

At the end of the service, the person responsible will select, together with the evaluator, the school of their preference that meets the student's needs according to the evaluation carried out. After the evaluation, at the same evaluation center, the enrollment will be confirmed. After the start of the school year, the person responsible must go to the school unit where the student was enrolled and submit all the documentation contained in the Registration Form.

Daycare/Child Development Center – from January 5th to January 10th, 2021

Registration for children of daycare age, between 6 months and 3 years and 11 months, will be carried out between January 5th and 10th, 2021. During this same period, it will also be possible to transfer to another unit of the Municipal Network for children already served in the Daycare Centers/EDIs of the City of Rio.

To register, parents and guardians must access the website and click on “Register” and select the candidate’s origin: currently studying or having studied at a school/daycare/EDI in the Municipal Network or never having studied at a unit of the City of Rio, for example. The guardian may select a minimum of one and a maximum of five school units of their preference. If they need to prove any qualifying criteria that were indicated at the time of registration, the guardian must appear at one of the units for which they registered on the next business day after registration with the relevant documents to confirm priority.

During this period, the person responsible for transferring enrollment between daycare centers must access the website www.matricula.rio and indicate the neighborhood in which they want the place and the group it belongs to (Nursery or Kindergarten). The website will direct them to where, in the neighborhood, there is a place available. The child will then occupy the chosen place and the place previously occupied by the child will be freed up.

For transfer registrations, proof of qualifying criteria is not required. When completing the form, you must print or write down the registration number generated by the website. This number will be used to identify which daycare center/EDI the place was reserved for. The search for the place must be made at the website www.matricula.rio on the date indicated on the registration receipt. The website will indicate the day on which the guardian must appear at the daycare center or EDI to confirm the registration.

Internal transfer for Preschool, Elementary School and Youth and Adult Education – from January 8 to 13, 2021

The transfer of students from preschool, elementary school and adult education to other schools in the municipal network will take place between January 8 and 13. Students must access the website www.matricula.rio and change schools, choosing the option that best suits their needs. To confirm enrollment, the guardian must be present at the beginning of classes to submit the documentation listed on the Enrollment Receipt.

New Students for Preschool, Elementary School and Adult Education – January 19-24, 2021

The transfer of students from private schools or other federal entities to the municipal school system of Rio de Janeiro for preschool, elementary school and adult education students will take place between January 19th and 24th. You must access the website www.matricula.rio and choose the option that best suits you. To confirm your enrollment, the guardian must be present at the beginning of classes to submit the documentation listed on the Enrollment Receipt.

Carioca Municipal Civic-Military School

Vacancies for the Escola Municipal Cívico-Militar Carioca, in the Rocha neighborhood, will be made available through a different enrollment process, after the publication of the vacancy notice in the Official Gazette of the Municipality of Rio de Janeiro. Registration will be open from December 14 to 16, at an electronic address to be announced soon.
