For the third consecutive year, the City of Rio is among the finalists for the Social Media Gov Award, which includes digital marketing actions promoted by different agencies from the three spheres of government. In this third edition of the award, Institutional Communication competes in two categories: Attitude and Identity. Over the next few weeks, the Social Media Gov organization will detail on its website the publications chosen in each category, with their respective data, metrics and analyses.

In the Attitude category, institutions that raised their voice and were emphatic in defending and promoting causes or actions of public interest were selected. Also competing for the award are the Central Bank, the government of Mato Grosso, the City of Salvador, the Federal Highway Police and the Public Prosecutor's Office of Paraná.

In the Identity category, institutions that produced impactful content highlighting aspects of local, regional and/or organizational identity were chosen. In addition to the City of Rio, the government of Pará, the Ministry of Defense and the City Governments of Curitiba, Niterói and Recife are also competing for the award.

The analysis of the selected entries took place between January 1 and December 31, 2024 and, as in previous editions, took into account the following criteria: engagement and impact of the publications; collective relevance of the content; diversity of approaches; relevance to the theme of the category. This entire selection and curation process was carried out through the Social Media Gov platform.

The awards ceremony will take place on April 29, during the 14th edition of Redes Wegov, in Florianópolis (SC). All finalists will go up on stage to receive a certificate, and the winners will receive a statuette. In addition to the 11 thematic categories, there will once again be the Best Content of the Year category, which will be chosen by direct vote of the event participants.

The purpose of the award is to disseminate and multiply the best communication practices of Brazilian public institutions and, in this way, contribute to the evolution of this entire ecosystem, which is essential to bring the government closer to citizens, provide good public services and strengthen democracy.

Previous editions

In the first edition of the event in 2023, the City of Rio was the winner in the Inclusion and Diversity category, which selected institutions that promoted, through their content, impactful actions on the theme of equality. The Municipality won first place with a Facebook post about the Portuguese and Literature teacher at the Municipal Education Network Alan de Souza.

He used music to teach about respect for differences and how they shape each person's identity. The song, which talks about the different types of hair in the class, was created and sung by everyone.

The video's publication on Facebook was the number one in terms of volume of interactions for Rio City Hall, reaching more than 200 thousand reactions and 4,3 million views on that platform alone.

Also in the 2023 edition, the City Hall competed in the Attitude category. The publications on Instagram (publication 1 e publication 2) were about the Municipality's campaign against bus companies that operate with the air conditioning turned off.

In last year's edition, Rio's City Hall was once again nominated in the Attitude category. The digital team created two campaigns against vandalism in the city. The videos were posted on Tik Tok (video 1 e video 2).
