- Rio City Hall carries out inspection operations over the weekend, issues 349 traffic fines and tows 508 vehicles
Actions aim to contain the spread of Covid-19 in the city. Photo: Disclosure/Municipal Guard The Rio City Hall, through the Municipal Guard, the Health Surveillance Institute and the Finance and Public Order departments, inspected several points in the city this weekend (12/13 and 12/19) to verify compliance with new measures adopted to contain the spread of the Covid-XNUMX pandemic. One of the targets of the agents was parking on the Rio de Janeiro coastline, which is prohibited on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
Below is a complete summary of the actions of the bodies involved:
MUNICIPAL GUARD
Traffic Control – The Municipal Guard registered 349 traffic fines this weekend (12 and 13/12) on the coast of the South and West zones of the city, the majority of which were for illegal parking in prohibited areas. Of the total, 120 were issued this Sunday.
Monitoring of health violations – The Municipal Guard recorded 10.019 health violations, from June 5 to November 30, during inspection actions aimed at confronting the Covid-19 pandemic. Of this total, 8.256 notifications (82,40%) were for lack of use of masks and 618 for crowding in commercial establishments, including queues and in cases of crowding in public spaces.
The number of notifications for the month of December will be updated next week.
FARM
The Sub-Secretariat of Licensing, Inspection and Urban Control, of the Municipal Finance Department, carried out actions to regulate the city. The Urban Control Coordination inspected street vendors in the neighborhoods of Vila Isabel, Centro, Barra da Tijuca, Urca, Copacabana and Barra de Guaratiba. Among the areas visited were Rua do Resende, Avenida Gomes Freire, Praça do Ô and the shores of Copacabana and Barra de Guaratiba.
In total, 80 street vendors, both regular and irregular, were inspected, 12 were fined and 24 were told to leave the streets. A total of 34 items were seized, including chairs, tables and alcoholic beverages sold in glass bottles, which is not permitted by law.
Street vendors who fail to comply with the rules in force in the decrees may be fined, have their merchandise seized and, if they persist in their irregularities, lose their license.
The Licensing and Inspection Coordination Office inspected establishments in the neighborhoods of Vila Isabel, Centro, Vila Valqueire and Barra da Tijuca. In total, 11 establishments were fined for using tables and chairs on the sidewalks without authorization. In Barra da Tijuca, the same establishment was fined not only for using tables and chairs on the sidewalks without proper authorization, but also for operating in violation of its license.
It is worth remembering that establishments that fail to comply with current legislation may be fined, closed and have the process of revoking their license initiated.
HEALTH SURVEILLANCE
The Health Surveillance Institute carried out 24 inspections in the city this weekend and issued 14 infractions for reasons such as crowding, lack of cleanliness and the presence of food unfit for consumption. There were also four summonses and one total closure (clandestine establishment, without documentation).
Since the beginning of the pandemic in March, the Health Surveillance Agency has carried out 13.445 inspections focused on preventing non-compliance with the Golden Rules, lack of hygienic and sanitary conditions and crowding in establishments. 5.715 infractions were applied, 559 of which were for crowding, and 375 establishments were closed.
PUBLIC ORDER
The Parking and Towing Inspection Coordination (Cfer), linked to the Municipal Secretariat of Public Order (Seop), removed 508 vehicles, from 6 am on Saturday (12) to 17 pm this Sunday (13), in the areas of the coast where parking is prohibited - one of the pandemic prevention measures announced by the City Hall and the state government last Thursday (10). The operation involved 34 tow trucks per day, which circulated through points of the Rio Rotativo and on strategic roads in the South and West zones.
Prohibited vacancies The use of parking spaces on the stretch between Leme and Pontal is once again prohibited on weekends and holidays, starting this Saturday (12), except for residents and users of special parking spaces. To be eligible, residents must display their Resident Card (issued by CET-Rio) or proof of residence on the dashboard of their vehicle, and may use parking spaces in their area. Users of special parking spaces (elderly and physically disabled) must display their mandatory beneficiary card. The fine for this type of illegal parking, according to the Traffic Code, is R$195,23, in addition to towing fees.
Towed vehicles – Before going to the municipal depots (São Cristóvão and Recreio dos Bandeirantes), citizens can check whether their vehicle has been removed for illegal parking by the City Hall on the SEOP website: http://www.rio.rj.gov.br/web/seop. To avoid fraud, payment of fees must be made directly at ATMs, banks and at partner essential establishments, such as supermarkets and pharmacies, and not via the internet or apps.
