The City of Rio, through the Municipal Department of Education, has started a new phase of distributing MERENDA KITS to all 641 thousand students in the municipal network.

Last Friday, August 21, 08 cards were delivered to those enrolled in Special Education, who had priority. And since this Monday, August 20, the benefits are being distributed to the other students in the municipal network with new features.

HOW WILL DELIVERY BE?

Delivery will follow alphabetical order, according to the first letter of the name of the student's guardian, and there will be a security measure for the card to receive the credit (the card will only have the credit released after delivery to the student's guardian), as explained by the municipal secretary of Education, Talma Romero Suane.

The City Hall, through the SME, has so far:

distributed more than 700 thousand MERENDA KITS including basic food baskets and cards since the beginning of the pandemic for families of students in the Municipal Education Network, and has already delivered more than 2,5 million kilos of food.

CARD VALUE

The previous value of the cards, R$100, was for two months of school meals for students. Currently, the KIT MERENDA card is loaded with credits corresponding to one month's school days, worth R$54,25.

MILK DISTRIBUTED TOO

It is worth noting that, in addition to distributing the SNACK KITS, the SME has also distributed 244 thousand liters of milk to daycare students – this is a complementary service that should be added to the SNACK KIT that is already delivered to those responsible.
