Rio Innovation Week is the largest innovation and technology event in Latin America - Beth Santos/City of Rio

The Rio de Janeiro City Hall is participating in Rio Innovation Week, which began on Tuesday (8/11) and continues until Friday (11/11) at Píer Mauá. Some of the main innovation projects in municipal management will be presented during the event at the City Hall stands and on the agenda of the official conferences, with around 20 panels. The conferences will address topics such as digital government, CryptoRio, urban mobility, energy efficiency, Porto Maravalley, expansion of bicycle paths, creative economy as a driving force for development, among many others.

The mayor of Rio, Eduardo Paes, attended the opening ceremony at Espaço Kobra, on Boulevard Olímpico.

– This year’s edition is bigger than last year’s. This shows how naturally this city deals with the topics of innovation and technology. This is a natural vocation for Rio. And it fills a gap we had in terms of fairs, events and debates focused on this topic. Rio Innovation Week is already a Rio achievement and is on the city’s calendar – said Eduardo Paes.

Rio Innovation Week is the largest and most comprehensive innovation and technology event in Latin America. The event will bring together more than 700 speakers, more than 200 exhibiting companies, more than two thousand startups, as well as debates on the future of different segments that drive the economy and influence society's behavior.

The City Hall will be present in several panels, with the participation of secretaries and technicians in the sections Society 5.0., LawTech, EduTech, Future, Farani, PopTech, ImpactHub, Clean Up, Games and HealthTech. The City of Rio will have representatives from more than ten departments, including Government and Public Integrity; Economic Development, Innovation and Simplification (SMDEIS); Finance (SMPF); Education (SME); Health (SMS); Transportation (SMTR) and Women's Policies and Promotion (SPM-Rio), in addition to Invest.Rio, Instituto Pereira Passos (IPP), Centro de Operações Rio (COR), Riotur, Escritório de Dados, Companhia Carioca de Parcerias e Investimentos (CCPar) and Comlurb.

In addition to participating in the conferences, the City Hall will have three booths, two of which will be dedicated to showcasing the main innovative actions in public management. Proposals for innovation and materials will be available to the public, who will also be able to exchange ideas with municipal technicians about the projects. The other booth will be Riotur, which will also have a 40m² booth to promote and publicize the tourism potential of the Marvelous City to visitors. The booth will feature a tourist map of Rio de Janeiro with detailed information about the city's various tourist attractions, as well as specific itineraries, restaurant recommendations and activities. Riotur pop sockets, with a message of love for Rio, will also be made available to event attendees.
