Yellow Line - Archive/City of Rio On Friday (13/6), the Rio de Janeiro City Hall and Lamsa signed an agreement with the Federal Supreme Court (STF) regarding the concession of the Linha Amarela. With the consensual solution, the toll fee will be reduced to R$3,80, a rate that may be even lower during periods when there is a significant increase in the number of vehicles traveling on the road. The Linha Amarela will continue to be operated by the concessionaire Lamsa.
The document still needs to be approved by the President of the Supreme Federal Court, Luis Roberto Barroso, for the new price to come into effect. The new toll rate is 5% lower than the current one (R$4). This amount guarantees the viability of the operation of the road and all its maintenance, even though it represents less than 40% of the original value of the contract, which would be higher than R$10,00 currently.
The result of a series of conciliation hearings held between the City Hall and Lamsa, the agreement also puts an end to all existing legal actions in the city of Rio regarding the concession of the road.
The fare value may be even lower if there is an increase in demand for vehicles and exploration of additional revenues by LAMSA, such as advertising and contractual innovations from this agreement.
