City Hall inaugurates renovation of Alberto Rangel Municipal School, in Cidade de Deus

The Alberto Rangel school was completely renovated and received a new coat of paint - Beth Santos/City of Rio Rio de Janeiro Mayor Eduardo Paes and Municipal Secretary of Education Renan Ferreirinha handed over the Alberto Rangel Municipal School in Cidade de Deus on Wednesday (15/9), which has been completely renovated. The school has undergone several renovations, including new electrical installations, accessibility improvements, and a covered sports court, as well as drainage services. The work took 120 days and involved an investment of approximately R$1,1 million.
– We have the best education system in Brazil and what we can do now is dream bigger and introduce new elements into public education, improving the structure. This will be our ongoing effort. We want to be bold in making what already exists work, qualifying and providing better working conditions for our education professionals – said the mayor, who visited the school’s facilities and, in the kitchen, tried and praised the beans prepared for the students’ lunch.
The renovation was carried out by the Municipal Urbanization Company (Rio-Urbe), which also painted the entire school: external area, gates, bathrooms and kitchen, as well as the fences. The unit serves 244 students from the 6th to 9th grade of Elementary School.
– We work to ensure that children and young students here have the opportunity to dream. This is our ongoing work every day. I would like to thank all the professionals at Alberto Rangel, a school that plays an important role in Cidade de Deus, with a special role in teaching the second segment. These children will understand that it is through the doors of the school that they can have a better future – stated Secretary Renan Ferreirinha.
SME will invest R$83 million in school maintenance
Last month, the Municipal Department of Education (SME) announced an investment of R$83 million in maintenance and adjustments to the network's units. This will be one of the largest volumes of resources ever made available in the history of the SME through the Decentralized Payment System (SDP).
– I am very happy with this renovation. This school is very cool, we do a very serious job. Next year, we will celebrate 50 years of existence of this unit that is part of the history of Cidade de Deus – highlighted Carlos Alberto Santana, director of the Alberto Rangel school.
This was the second volume of resources made available in eight months of management. The first was transferred on School Day (March 15), when R$3 million were released. Now 16 schools, daycare centers, Child Development Centers (EDIs) and extension units will be able to receive R$1.574 each, totaling R$52.800 million. To be eligible for the funds, the schools must be up to date with their financial statements.
The SDP is a resource that allows for quick resolution of problems related to the day-to-day needs of schools. It is intended for small expenses, such as the purchase of consumables (cleaning, office supplies), acquisition and renovation of equipment and furniture, as well as for carrying out small repair services on the physical network.
