City Hall begins construction work on housing and two family clinics in the city

On Tuesday (22/4), Rio de Janeiro City Hall launched the construction of the Visconde II and III developments, located in Mangueira, part of the Federal Government's Minha Casa, Minha Vida Program. The launch marks the return of MCMV Faixa I in the city. The properties are designed for families with a gross income of up to R$2.850,00 and will benefit from 44 m² apartments. All of them have a living room, two bedrooms, kitchen, laundry area, bathroom and balcony.

– Mangueira is a very special place in the city, one of the symbols of Rio and a community that faces many challenges. This is a housing policy of the Federal Government in which we will give more dignity to the poorest people, the working people of the city. There are many people who were living in risk areas, occupied areas and receiving social rent. The Housing Department will coordinate the work of selecting families, and you can be sure: one thing we will never stop doing is working for the poorest people – stated Mayor Eduardo Paes.

The condominiums, with 328 units in total and which will serve around XNUMX people, have a leisure area, with a playground, multi-sports court, party room, gyms, library, barbecue areas and even a community garden. Minha Casa, Minha Vida da Mangueira, like other complexes in the program, will be delivered with all the infrastructure, such as water and sewage systems, drainage and electricity.

More than R$21 million will be invested in the construction of the 50 blocks, each with four floors, in the two condominiums, generating 100 jobs, including local labor. The condominiums will be built on the former land of the Ministry of Finance, on Rua Visconde de Niterói.

– We have a large demand for housing in the city and this will help reduce this deficit. There are 328 housing units, with R$50 million in investments divided between the Federal Government and the City Hall. We will reduce the deficit, guarantee the right to housing for many people and bring dignity to the residents of Mangueira – said the Municipal Secretary of Housing, Diego Zeidan.

Works of the Morar Carioca program

Deputy Mayor Eduardo Cavaliere and the Housing Secretary also launched the completion of the Morar Carioca program in the communities of Bairro Proletário do Dique and Parque Furquim Mendes, in Vigário Geral. Urbanization and infrastructure works are planned, with the installation of water and sewage networks, drainage, river channeling, paving and leisure areas.

– When we have an intervention like this, an investment that changes people’s lives, we know we are doing the right thing – said Cavaliere.

New family clinics

On Tuesday, Rio de Janeiro City Hall also launched construction work on two new family clinics, in Camorim and Taquara, in the Jacarepaguá region. The units will be financed with a total of R$14,4 million in resources from the Federal Government's New Growth Acceleration Program (New PAC). The two new clinics will benefit approximately 62 residents with comprehensive basic health care, capable of meeting up to 85% of the population's health needs. The work is expected to last one year and the clinics will begin operating in April 2026.

– Starting the new government by starting construction in Taquara and Camorim is to show once again that the City Hall knows exactly who needs a quality health system. And that is how we will continue to govern. Family clinics change people’s lives – said Cavaliere.

The family clinics will have dressing rooms, procedures, collection rooms, immunization rooms, x-ray rooms, ultrasound rooms, observation rooms with three beds, and oral health rooms. The Camorim unit will have eight offices and will cost R$7,1 million. The Taquara unit will have ten offices and will receive an investment of R$7,3 million. Each unit will have nine family health teams and three oral health teams.

Family clinics have multidisciplinary teams made up of doctors, nurses, nursing technicians, community health agents (CHA), health surveillance agents, dentists, dental assistants and dental technicians. The professionals are divided into teams responsible for different areas. Upon arrival at the unit, the user is welcomed by a professional from the team corresponding to their place of residence, guided and attended to according to their needs.

In the new units, residents of Camorim and Taquara will have access to services such as individual and group consultations; home visits; vaccinations; laboratory tests (blood, urine and feces), x-rays, electrocardiograms and ultrasounds; heel prick tests; dressings; health surveillance; prenatal care and family planning; treatment and monitoring of diabetic and hypertensive patients, in addition to other chronic diseases.

– These are two areas with the lowest family health coverage in the city of Rio. It is a partnership with the Federal Government so that in a year’s time we will have two new primary care units in the city. They will make a big difference in improving prenatal, vaccination, hypertension and diabetes coverage – declared the municipal Health Secretary, Daniel Soranz.

The Camorim family clinic will be built at Estrada de Camorim, 205, and the Taquara clinic will be built at Praça Waldir Vieira, at Estrada do Engenho Velho, 1.359. With them, the municipal health network will now have 241 Primary Care units.
