Southwest Zone Mobility Plan
The roundabout is the first intervention initiated within the Southwest Zone Mobility Plan, a strategic set of road improvements aimed at Barra da Tijuca, Barra Olímpica, and Recreio dos Bandeirantes. The plan aims to reorganize the road system in one of the city's most dynamically growing urban areas. Executed by the Municipal Infrastructure Secretariat, the roundabout construction represents an investment of R$ 5,8 million and is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
The Southwest Zone Mobility Plan also includes five other priority interventions: the connection between the Marapendi Canal and Alda Garrido Avenue; the reorganization of the traffic lanes on Ayrton Senna Avenue; the construction of the Arroio Fundo Bridge; the construction of an underpass on Alfredo Baltazar da Silveira Avenue, near Barra Bali; and the implementation of a pedestrian overpass at the Asa Branca BRT station. The total investment for these projects is around R$ 200 million and is scheduled for completion in 2028.
