City Hall reopens Knowledge Nave in Alemão and announces works in Campo Grande

The Rio City Hall, through the Municipal Secretariat of Science and Technology (SMCT), reopened, this Saturday (19/2), the Knowledge Center of the Nova Brasília community, in Complexo do Alemão, in the North Zone of the city. With multipurpose and interactive high-tech environments, the Center offers the community free of charge several options of courses, workshops, virtual visits and leisure.

 

– It’s absurd that a facility of this quality, which can change people’s lives, has been closed for so long. We fought to reopen it and now we can’t let it close any longer. A facility like this is very important for the city – said Rio’s mayor, Eduardo Paes.

 

The objective of the space is to encourage the search for new knowledge, in addition to socially dynamizing communities and stimulating understanding of new technologies in a democratic way.

 

– We are returning this equipment to the people of Rio. The Naves are essential spaces that aim to democratize access to the digital world. We want to transform them into true training centers in the area of ​​technology. We need to prepare people for the booming job market that is knocking on our door – said Willian Coelho, Secretary of Science and Technology.

 

The New Brasília Ship closed to the public in 2018 and remained inactive during the Covid-19 pandemic. Since January of last year, the Science and Technology Secretariat has carried out inspections, asset surveys and structural status assessments of the nine Knowledge Ships for new bidding, restructuring and management of all equipment.

This is the third spaceship to be reopened. In December of last year, the Knowledge Spaceships in Engenhão and Madureira were once again open to the public. The other six facilities, located in the North and West Zones, will also be reopened in Santa Cruz, Vila Aliança, Padre Miguel, Irajá, Penha and Triagem.

Works in Campo Grande

On Saturday morning, Mayor Eduardo Paes announced the arrival of the Bairro Maravilha program on Rua Senhora and seven other streets in Campo Grande, in the West Zone. The project covers more than 11 thousand square meters of the neighborhood, revitalizing streets, alleys and lanes. Technicians from the Municipal Infrastructure Department and representatives from other municipal agencies accompanied the mayor and listened to the demands of residents of the region and surrounding areas.

 

– There are major projects that change the neighborhood and the region, but there are also projects that serve smaller areas that are experiencing a lot of suffering. We already have the project for these streets in Campo Grande and the work has been authorized. It will begin soon – said Eduardo Paes.

 

The Bairro Maravilha program aims to restore areas of the city that were not receiving attention from the government. This involves repaving roads, redoing sidewalks, and draining streets.

 

Still in the West Zone, the mayor announced renovations to the Gaivotas and Flamingos Condominiums, through the Conjunto Maravilha program of Rio-Urbe. The housing complexes, which have a total of 44 blocks, will undergo renovations to paint the buildings and walls; review the roofs and gutters; waterproof the water tower and canopies; revitalize the common areas; repair the roofs and paint the covered common areas; install handrails on the stairs and build a section of retaining wall. The work should take an average of eight months.

 

– Rio-Urbe has already prepared the project and budget for the renovations of the two condominiums. Both are authorized. We will hold a bidding process to choose the company for the work and it will begin in a few months – said the mayor.

 

The Conjunto Maravilha program carries out renovations and recovery of housing complexes. The project aims to promote studies and implement the planning of integrated actions. The benefited locations undergo an analysis of the technical and structural conditions of the buildings and the number of inhabitants.

Later, during a visit to the daycare center of the Residents' Association of Parque Proletário, in Penha, in the North Zone, Eduardo Paes listened to the demands of the residents of Complexo da Penha and announced that the City Hall will make improvements in the region in the coming months.
