City government conducts enforcement operation in Ipanema and issues over R$ 16 in fines.

The Rio de Janeiro City Hall, through a joint action of the South Zone Subprefecture and the Municipal Secretariat of Public Order (SEOP), carried out an urban order operation in commercial establishments in Ipanema on Wednesday night (June 10). The action resulted in the application of R$ 16.825,72 in fines to bars and restaurants for irregular occupation of sidewalks.

In total, 16 establishments were inspected and nine of them were fined for using tables, chairs, and umbrellas without authorization or in violation of current regulations. The inspection covered the streets Barão da Torre, Farme de Amoedo, Garcia D'Ávila, and Maria Quitéria.

According to the sub-mayor of the South Zone, Pedro Angelito, the operations contribute to consolidating good practices in the occupation of urban space and reinforcing the organization of the region.

"We want merchants and citizens to understand that public space must be used responsibly and within the rules. The City Hall will continue to monitor and the persistence of irregular practices will receive the necessary response from the competent authorities. We are consolidating a culture of order in the South Zone," highlighted the sub-mayor.

The South Zone Subprefecture maintains an ongoing schedule of actions to regulate the region and ensure sidewalks are clear, accessible, and safe, promoting a balance between economic activity and the collective interest.
