The goal is to ensure safety, visibility, and comfort for locals and tourists alike who will be circulating along the beaches, accessing stages, and in key gathering areas during the New Year's celebrations.
Among the main measures, the company carried out preventive maintenance on more than ten thousand lighting points along the city's coastline, in addition to reinforcing lighting at access points to subway stations, high-traffic roads, and stages scattered throughout different regions of Rio. The operation also includes the installation of 13 new monitoring cameras integrated into the Operations and Resilience Center (COR), with a zoom capacity of up to 15 times, expanding the reach of surveillance and allowing for faster responses to any interference.
Preventive maintenance and power control system overhauls have been intensified along the entire coastline, from Leme Beach to Pontal, also including the shores of Bica Beach, Guaratiba and Sepetiba, as well as the Piscinão de Ramos, which received operational reinforcement and complete functional inspections.
As part of the special New Year's Eve operation, RioLuz also carried out technical inspections of escalators and elevators located in strategic areas, ensuring accessibility and safety for the public. Throughout New Year's Eve, technical teams will remain on standby at strategic points in the city, prepared to respond immediately in case of any incident.
According to the president of RioLuz, Rafael Thompson, the advance work is essential to ensure the full operation of the systems during one of the periods of highest demand of the year.
"We are expanding monitoring, modernizing strategic sections, and strengthening our standby teams to respond quickly. Our focus is on ensuring safety, visibility, and well-being for those occupying public spaces during the biggest celebration of the year," he states.
