Rio-Águas begins drainage work at Aterro do Flamengo, near Marina da Glória.

The red line represents the cleaning and dredging services; the blue line, the final stretch that will be restored. The Rio de Janeiro City Hall, through the Rio-Águas Foundation, begins this Monday (August 3rd) a project to improve the drainage system of the Flamengo landfill, near Marina da Glória. The intervention includes the maintenance of the existing gallery and the recovery of part of the drainage network, increasing the efficiency of rainwater runoff in the region. The investment is R$ 1,9 million from the municipality.
The services include cleaning, dredging, and tree root removal along approximately 900 meters of the drainage system between Avenida Infante Dom Henrique and Marina da Glória. New manholes will also be constructed along this stretch, facilitating access for the teams and making future maintenance actions faster and more efficient.
In the final section of the gallery, near Praia da Glória, more than 70 meters of the network will be rebuilt in concrete to reinforce the structure and improve rainwater drainage. After the work is completed, the paving and grass in the sections that have been worked on will be fully restored. The work is scheduled to be completed this semester.
