Rio certifies 100 civil servants as new Carioca Leaders

The City of Rio, through the João Goulart Foundation Institute, held the inauguration of the new members of the Líderes Cariocas Program on Wednesday (18/12), in a ceremony at the Palácio da Cidade, in Botafogo. The event celebrated the induction of 100 civil servants who will now be part of the city's talent development program, reaffirming the commitment to training and developing them to face strategic challenges.

The president of the João Goulart Foundation Institute (FJG), Rafaela Bastos, presented the certificates to the top three students in the course, which lasted two years. The first place winner was Daniela Narciso Kfuri (from the Municipal Department of Urban and Economic Development), the second place winners were Roberto Anunciação Antunes (from the Mayor's Office) and Valdemar Ferreira da Silva (Municipal Department of Education).

– The Líderes Cariocas program is an objective investment in what I call the intellectual capital of public service. It makes direct investments for two consecutive years in each group of civil servants. And we don’t see that in Brazil, nor in the private sector. In the City of Rio, there is monitoring, follow-up, we have a mentoring program, a career incentive project. It is an exchange between the instruments that the João Goulart Foundation is capable of providing and what you are interested in achieving professionally in public management – ​​said Rafaela Bastos, who added that being a Líder Carioca means assuming a commitment to solutions that help transform the daily lives of the city and its population.

Also participating in the ceremony were the municipal undersecretary of Finance and Planning, Rodrigo Dantas, and the municipal secretary of the Civil House, Leandro Matieli.

The event was also an opportunity to strengthen the Rio de Janeiro leadership network, promoting the exchange of experiences and networking among participants, expanding the group's sense of belonging and reinforcing the commitment to transforming future challenges into solutions for the city.

The Líderes Cariocas Program, created 12 years ago, is the main talent management program of the City of Rio, which aims to improve the management capacity of the municipal public administration through the identification and development of effective civil servants with a leadership profile, training them to assume strategic positions and solve challenges that directly impact the lives of citizens.

With the qualification of the new Rio Leaders, the Program now has 320 member civil servants, symbolizing another step towards innovative, transparent and integrated public management, consolidating the appreciation of civil servants and reaffirming the commitment to a city with responsible and inclusive governance.

Participants undergo extensive training focused on technical, behavioral, and leadership skills, promoting self-leadership and equipping them to assume their role as public leaders in Rio. In addition, the program encourages a culture of innovation and the sharing of good practices, in alignment with the Rio de Janeiro Policy for the Development of Managers and the 2021-2024 Strategic Plan of the City of Rio.
