The 2025 edition of Rio Innovation Week, held between August 12th and 15th at Pier Mauá, generated approximately R$149,7 million in the Rio economy.

The estimate was released by Rio City Hall, through Riotur and the Municipal Secretariat for Economic Development, in partnership with the event organizers.

With more than 200 participants over the four days, the event attracted a very diverse audience: 15% national tourists and 25% Rio de Janeiro residents from outside the capital, according to a survey by Riotur and SMDE.

The economic impact considers the direct and indirect impact generated by visitors—including expenses for food, transportation, lodging, shopping, sightseeing, and cultural experiences. Expenses for infrastructure, setup, and ticket sales for the event were also taken into account.

"Rio Innovation Week goes far beyond innovation and technology. It boosts the events sector, fosters tourism, and generates a direct economic impact throughout the city. It's a concrete demonstration of how major events can combine relevant content, visitor attraction, and economic development for our city," emphasizes Bernardo Fellows, president of Riotur.

Rio Innovation Week is considered the largest meeting of innovation, business, creativity, and technology in Latin America and, in 2025, brought together hundreds of exhibitors, startups, public and private sector leaders, as well as thousands of participants in experiences, panels, and activations spread throughout the Pier Mauá warehouses.

"The city of Rio's economy is heavily based on the service sector. Major events like Rio Innovation Week help boost this sector and generate opportunities and income for Rio residents. The success of this edition and the nearly R$150 million generated are proof of this," analyzed Osmar Lima, Municipal Secretary of Economic Development.
