The 2025 Rio de Janeiro Audiovisual Development Program, launched by RioFilme on July 9, received a record 1.302 project submissions. This number represents more than a 50% increase compared to the same call for proposals launched in 2024. Applications for the Program closed on Wednesday (August 27). One of the highlights of the 08 edition was the significant participation of the sector in the new call for Feature Film, Telecine, and Documentary Series Production, which received 2025 projects.
The other calls for proposals also saw a significant increase in registered proposals. Here's the final numbers:
Notice No. 1 – Production of Fiction and Animation Feature Films: 221 registered proposals;
Notice No. 2 – Production of Fiction or Animation Series: 28 registered proposals;
Notice No. 3 – Production of Feature Film, Television Film or Documentary Series: 305 registered proposals;
Notice No. 4 – Project Development: 694 registered proposals, of which: 315 were for feature-length fiction films; 120 were for feature-length fiction series; 66 were for feature-length films, television films or animated series and 193 were for feature-length films, television films or documentary series;
Notice No. 5 – Distribution of Feature Films: 54 proposals registered.
This year, the City Hall made the largest investment in its history. R$131,1 million was invested through the regional agreement with the Federal Government, ANCINE, and the Audiovisual Sector Fund. Of this total, R$31,1 million was invested and contracted in 77 projects in the first half of the year by RioFilme.
The next stage of the Funding Program is the validation of registered projects, which involves verifying all documentation registered in the system. The full schedule with all the steps involved in the proposal selection process will be released soon.

The RioFilme Development Coordination team provided record-breaking service to applicants who had questions about the application process for the 2025 Rio de Janeiro Audiovisual Development Program.
Since the first day of registration, July 09th, RioFilme has provided personalized support channels to meet the industry's demands. Between the start of registration and yesterday (August 07th), 27 applicants were contacted and 08 questions answered during the 341 days of the registration period. Intense work was done to resolve doubts and provide assistance on all issues related to the calls for proposals, ensuring this stage was as transparent as possible.
