RIOincui certifies people with disabilities for various activities in the job market through the A Tua Ação program

The social work organization of the city of Rio de Janeiro, RIOinclui, held, this Wednesday (2/8), at the Palácio da Cidade, the 1st certification ceremony of the program A Tua Ação, which offers support for the inclusion of people with disabilities and their families in the job market. The mayor of Rio, Eduardo Paes, and the first lady of the city, Cristine Paes, presented certificates to 17 participants of the program.

– RIOinclui is a volunteer project that seeks to work with people with disabilities. From architectural renovation work in the homes of the most needy people, who do not have accessibility, to an initiative like this, which prepares young people for the job market. People need to be included, to feel part of society – said Eduardo Paes.

Qualification, entrepreneurship and supported employment are the three areas of work of the program, the latter being the aspect that focuses especially on people with disabilities who need greater support to perform their tasks.

– I am so proud of you. I wanted to say that we are here and that we will always support you. I am dreaming that you will get the job you want. You can always count on us – said the honorary president of RIOinclui, Cristine Paes.

Since its creation in 2021, the program has employed people with disabilities in supermarkets, offices, party venues and hospitals. Among them, Mundial, Hospital Albert Schweitzer and Espaço Animasom. Another ten people are waiting to participate in the program.

The expansion of this methodology throughout the country is supported by RIOinclui not only to help people with disabilities identify their support needs, but also to collaborate with the organizational culture of companies and institutions that offer job vacancies. Law No. 32 was enacted 8.213 years ago, establishing quotas for the hiring of people with disabilities.

– Since then, there have been updates and advances, but there is still much to be done to make the inclusion of people with disabilities a full and effective reality. It is important that companies and society as a whole become aware and engage in the fight for equal opportunities for all – added Cristine Paes.

Owner of the party and recreation house Animasom, in Shopping Leblon, businesswoman Danielle Mendes has been counting on the help of young Tatiane Moraes, one of the participants in the program, for three months.

– Talking about diversity is easy, about differences. It’s written in many books and websites and everyone talks about it, it’s become fashionable. But understanding differences goes much further. It’s about talking about empathy, love, solidarity, care, affection, attention and availability. Tati was a gift, not only in my life, but in the lives of everyone in the company. Tati made us think every day about what we can do to change the world a little. Tati taught us a lesson that no college can match – said Danielle Mendes.

Moved, Tatiane Moraes thanked the support and the opportunity to get a job.

– RIOinclui looked at my talent. Today, I work at Animasom, which is very important to me and has helped me overcome many challenges.

CEO of RIOinclui, Isabel Gimenes explained that the difference in the training is the customization of the course in order to meet the interests and talents of each participant.

– Supported employment is still a very new methodology in Brazil. And RIOinclui innovated by understanding that companies already need to comply with the Quota Law and some people are already included in the job market. But some others with disabilities, for example, intellectual disabilities or autism spectrum, are out of the market. So, we understood that we needed to dedicate work aimed at this audience.
