Over the decades, the company has directly contributed to improving urban spaces and the daily lives of residents.
One of the main milestones is the Luz Maravilha program, which modernized more than half a million light fixtures, bringing 97% of the city's lighting system to LED technology. More than 12 new streetlights and 5 surveillance cameras were also installed, expanding the lighting and security reach of streets, squares, and public spaces.
In the tunnels, RioLuz delivered the modernization of 18 structures, with 9.916 LED lights installed over 13 kilometers. Major city roads, such as Avenida Brasil, Linha Vermelha, Linha Amarela, Grajaú-Jacarepaguá, Niemeyer, and Radial Oeste, among several others, also underwent modernization, adding thousands of new light fixtures.
Important public spaces received new lighting systems. Aterro do Flamengo received 2.430 LED points. Praça Paris underwent a complete renovation, and Paquetá's central park was modernized with 93 LED points and fiber optic poles. Quinta da Boa Vista also received new lighting, respecting its historic features.
Operation Wire Hunter has already collected more than 30 tons of cables abandoned by operators since the beginning of the operation in 2022, contributing to the reduction of visual pollution and eliminating risks to the public's safety, such as electrical discharges and accidents with loose wires.
RioLuz is a regular presence at major city events, such as New Year's Eve, Rock in Rio, the Book Biennial, and concerts by Madonna and Lady Gaga. During Carnival, the company provides additional lighting, cameras, spotlights, and stage lighting at the Sambadrome.
The lighting of religious heritage sites is also part of the company's activities, such as the churches of Penha and Nossa Senhora da Apresentação, in Irajá.
RioLuz also collaborates with other agencies on urban projects and is responsible for maintaining the inclined planes of Pavão-Pavãozinho, Santa Marta, Penna, Penha and Outeiro da Glória, promoting mobility in hillside regions.
With planning, efficiency, and a vision for the future, RioLuz continues to work to improve the lives of its residents and the city's infrastructure and security.
