RioLuz, the public lighting company in the city of Rio de Janeiro, and Hemorio are promoting the blood donation campaign “Ô abre alas que eu quero doar” on February 12, from 02 am to 10 pm. With the aim of reinforcing the stock of blood bags before Carnival, the initiative will take place at the RioLuz headquarters in Botafogo, and will have a collection point to serve the public.

– RioLuz is open to anyone who can donate blood, whether they are residents, workers or passersby. The initiative reinforces the importance of this act of solidarity, which takes just a few minutes but can save countless lives. During this pre-Carnival period, donations tend to decrease, making everyone’s participation even more essential – explains RioLuz president Rafael Thompson.

Luiz Amorim, general director of Hemorio, highlights that the partnership with RioLuz has been going on for years and recalls that actions like this help to maintain the institute's stock of blood bags.

– All initiatives that encourage donations are always very welcome. We believe in the success of the event and hope that it will be just the first one this year – says Luiz Amorim.

The event will be open to the public from 10 am to 15 pm on the 4th floor of the RioLuz building, located at Rua Voluntários da Pátria, 169, Botafogo, South Zone of the city.
