RioLuz, in partnership with the Municipal Department of Sports and Recreation, delivered the new lighting system for Praça do Ó in Barra da Tijuca. The space, a traditional meeting place for residents and a venue for cultural, sports, and leisure activities, has been given a modern, more efficient, and sustainable design, enhancing the sense of safety and enhancing community life.

In total, 57 LED lights were installed, with increased power to ensure higher-quality lighting. The square also now has 53 floodlights, nine of which are dedicated exclusively to the skate park, one of the most popular sports facilities in the region and a space for interaction between different generations.

Regarding the importance of the project, RioLuz president Rafael Thompson highlighted:

Praça do Ó is a symbolic space for Barra da Tijuca, especially for young people and those who practice urban sports, such as skateboarding. Investing in quality lighting in this space means investing in sports and leisure for the population.

The action is part of the program to modernize Rio's public lighting system, which has already transformed emblematic points of the city, such as Aterro do Flamengo, Praça Paris and, recently, Praça São Salvador.
