The City of Rio, through RioLuz, has completed the installation of a new public lighting system around the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), in the city's North Zone. The action is part of the program to modernize the city's lighting system and includes areas with heavy pedestrian and vehicle traffic.

In total, 30 projectors and 60 high-power LED lights were installed, in addition to seven corrosion-resistant fiberglass poles. The improvements cover the entire area around the university, including the walkway leading to Maracanã, the entrance ramp to the Metro station, and important roads such as Avenida São Francisco Xavier, Avenida Professor Manoel de Abreu, Rua Radialista Waldir Amaral, Rua Professor Ricardo Lira and Avenida Rei Pelé.

– Our goal is to provide greater safety and comfort for those who travel through this area, which is one of the busiest in the city, whether they are students, workers or fans who frequent Maracanã. Investing in public lighting is investing in citizenship and quality of life – said RioLuz president Rafael Thompson.
