Women's Secretariat announces 4.600 vacancies in free courses for women in Rio

The City of Rio de Janeiro, through the Municipal Secretariat for Policies for Women and Care, announced this Thursday (12/06) the opening of 4.600 vacancies in free courses aimed at women, with a focus on professional training, income generation and the promotion of female autonomy in the city's territories. Since 2021, more than 172 thousand women have participated in courses and workshops offered by the Secretariat. This new stage reinforces the municipal administration's commitment to the care, information and rights of women, especially those in situations of social vulnerability and victims of gender-based violence.

— A skilled woman is a woman with more freedom, income and decision-making power. We are expanding access to training throughout the city to ensure that more women have the tools they need to transform their lives —, says the municipal secretary of Policies for Women Joyce Trindade.

The activities will be held at the Casas da Mulher Carioca and Salas da Mulher Cidadã, located in several neighborhoods in Rio. The training sessions are aimed at women aged 14 and over, with no requirement for schooling, with special attention to mothers, informal workers and residents of the outskirts of the city.

Courses offered in this edition
The new edition brings news in the areas of technology and languages, such as:

Basic computing
Entrepreneurship and finance
Administrative Assistant
English, Spanish and Libras and much more.

Courses aimed at generating quick income are also highlighted, such as:

eyebrow design
eyelash extension
Braids, makeup, reflexology and massage therapy
Confectionery, bakery, cakes and decoration

Care and strengthening network
In addition to professional qualifications, all participants have access to a comprehensive care network, with:

Circles of conversation
Guidelines on gender-based violence
Sexual and reproductive health actions
Legal and psychosocial support
