The Municipal Secretariat for People with Disabilities officially opened the holiday camp at Aterro do Flamengo, near Post 2. More than 200 users and family members from the seven Reference Centers enjoyed adapted volleyball, capoeira, and dance classes, ending the morning with a swim in the beautiful Flamengo Beach.
– People with disabilities served by SMPD should occupy the nicest spaces in the city. The Aterro has a beautiful view of Sugarloaf Mountain and its beach, with white sand and calm sea, offers safety for families to have fun – said Secretary Helena Werneck.
Children, teenagers, and adults interacted amidst the green space and shade of the trees in the Children's Park, where various activities took place, culminating in a swim in the sea. The SMPD promotes activities that encourage empowerment, autonomy, independence, and improve the self-esteem of our users.
"The beach has always been considered a democratic space, for all classes and backgrounds, and we want it to be increasingly inclusive," the secretary emphasized.
Until the 30th, there will be tours and activities in the city's parks, the Olympic Museum, Paquetá Island, and other locations in Rio de Janeiro.
Check the schedule at the Reference Center where you are enrolled.
The closing ceremony of the Holiday Camp organized by the Secretariat for People with Disabilities will be held at Madureira Park.
Only users and their family members can participate in the events. Armed with a disability certificate signed by a specialist physician, people with disabilities should go to the municipal center closest to their home. The Integrated Family Care Center (NIAF) analyzes each case and registers the interested party.
