  • Municipal Department of Culture signs technical cooperation agreement with UFRJ
Institutional partnership signed - Gui Espíndola/City Hall

A technical cooperation agreement was signed this Tuesday (28), between the Municipal Secretariat of Culture (SMC) and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). The objective is to facilitate an institutional partnership that aims at a program of joint activities within the scope of policies for the valorization and dissemination of culture.

– Undergraduate students from all universities will be able to work in municipal cultural facilities, collaborating in the relationship between these cultural spaces and the city – emphasizes the municipal secretary of Culture Marcus Faustini, who received in his office the rector Denise Pires de Carvalho and the pro-rector of Extension Ivana Bentes to celebrate the beginning of this partnership.

– Today, UFRJ has more than 50 thousand students, from different areas, which shows the importance of the agreement for the cultural production chain in the city – informs Denise Pires de Carvalho.

For Ivana Bentes, it is a way to revitalize local cultural spaces, enhance and popularize extension projects, and strengthen the culture of the city of Rio.

– The idea is that we have our extension students working in local cultural institutions, distributed throughout the various territories and neighborhoods of Rio – says Ivana.

In conjunction with teaching and research, Extension is one of the university's three pillars of education. Its role is to promote integration between students and society.

The document does not imply a transfer of financial resources between participants. Its duration is two years, starting from the date of its signature, and may be extended or changed by means of an addendum.
