The Subprefecture of Large Complexes is coordinating assistance to families following the fire in Manguinhos.

The Subprefecture of Large Complexes coordinated, on Tuesday (June 9), the integrated action of municipal agencies in assisting families affected by a fire in a four-story building in the Embratel community, next to the Mandela 2 community, in the Manguinhos Complex.

The fire started around 6 a.m. on the fourth floor of the building. The Fire Department was called and quickly brought the flames under control, preventing the fire from spreading. There were no fatalities.

After the fire department cleared the area, city teams began assisting the affected families. In total, five properties were affected by the fire, impacting eighteen residents.

The operation involved teams from the municipal departments of Health, Social Assistance, Housing, and Government Coordination, as well as the Municipal Civil Defense and Comlurb (the city's sanitation company). The properties were condemned by Civil Defense, and their occupants, who chose to go to relatives' homes, received mattresses, city hall cards for purchasing supplies, and will be included in the Temporary Housing Assistance program.

The Deputy Mayor for Major Complexes, Marlí Peçanha, monitored the mobilization of municipal agencies and highlighted the importance of a prompt response to minimize the impacts of the incident.

"From the very first moments after the fire was brought under control, our priority was to ensure shelter, assistance, and support for the affected families. The integrated action of the City Hall departments allowed for a quick and efficient response, ensuring that residents received the necessary care during this difficult time. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide all necessary support to the affected families," stated the deputy mayor.

The Subprefecture of Large Complexes will continue to monitor the situation and coordinate, together with other municipal agencies, the necessary measures to assist residents.
