'SVS na Rua' continues with actions to combat Aedes aegypti

The Municipal Health Department (SMS) is reinforcing dengue, Zika, and chikungunya prevention activities throughout the city. This week, the 'SVS na Rua' (SVS on the Street) campaign is taking place in 19 neighborhoods in the West, North, South, and Central zones of the city, implementing measures to control the mosquito. Aedes aegypti.

Environmental health surveillance actions will take place on Wednesday (June 10th) in the neighborhoods of Santa Teresa, Praça Seca and Curicica. On Thursday (June 11th), agents will visit Copacabana, Tijuca, Grajaú, Penha, Tomás Coelho, Engenho de Dentro, Marechal Hermes, Irajá, Bangu, Gericinó, Campo Grande, Paciência, Sepetiba and Santa Cruz. On Friday (June 12th) it will be the turn of the Guaratiba region.

Up to May 30th of this year, 4.801.272 inspections were carried out on properties for the prevention and control of Aedes aegypti, the mosquito vector of these diseases. In this regard, 694.148 containers that could serve as mosquito breeding grounds were treated and eliminated. In 2025, 12.297.072 property visits were conducted and 1.684.674 containers were treated or eliminated.

Educational and social mobilization actions are among the priorities of the Municipal Health Department (SMS) in the prevention of urban arboviruses. Public awareness and social responsibility are essential individual and collective health measures for controlling these diseases.
