The force deployed will consist of 100 municipal guards, strategically positioned around more than 30 schools - Press Release

The Rio Municipal Guard (GM-Rio) launched Operation Back to School this Tuesday (03/02), which will reinforce traffic enforcement around the main road corridors and areas with a high concentration of schools in all regions of the city, and will also intensify preventive patrolling actions carried out by the School Patrol Group (GRE) in the municipal education network.

In traffic enforcement operations, the focus will be on combining traffic flow and road safety. The officers will monitor traffic, guide drivers, and assist students in crossing the street to prevent accidents. The deployment will consist of 100 municipal officers positioned at strategic points around more than 30 schools that experience high traffic volume during student arrival and departure times, conducting foot and motorized patrols.

Among the streets covered by the operation are: Rua São Clemente, in Botafogo; Visconde Silva, in Humaitá; Rua São Francisco Xavier, in Tijuca; Avenida Maracanã; Rua Araguaia, in Freguesia; Rua Geminiano Góis, in Freguesia; Av. Nelson Cardoso, in Taquara; Rua Professor Ferreira da Rosa, in Barrinha; Av. Vito Konder, in Barrinha; Rua Correia de Araújo, in Barrinha; Estrada do Joá, in Barrinha; Av. Tenente Coronel Muniz de Aragão, in Anil.

In the case of the School Patrol, the operation will involve the resumption of activities by the School Patrol Group (GRE). During school holidays and breaks, the teams patrol schools focusing on protecting the facilities. With the return to classes, the teams will carry out preventive patrols focusing on the safety of students, parents/guardians, and teachers, as well as the protection of the facilities.
