Registration open for 3 places on free technology courses at Navezinhas Cariocas

The city of Rio already has 25 Navezinhas Cariocas - Gui Espíndola/SMCT The Municipal Department of Science and Technology (SMCT) is accepting applications for 3 places on various free technology and entrepreneurship courses and workshops at Navezinhas Cariocas. The twenty-five units provide training for young people and adults in information technology for integration into the job market, with resources that enable diverse audiences to access and learn how to use digital media tools.
The Navezinhas are set up in peripheral areas of the city, in territories with high levels of social vulnerability, with a focus on implementing training strategies in new technologies. The spaces emerge as an innovative initiative with the aim of promoting the free democratization of knowledge, insertion into the job market, and exploring the potential of the new technology segment.
– The Navezinhas Cariocas play a fundamental role in increasing the reach of the Naves do Conhecimento. The purpose is to bring digital inclusion and new forms of learning to the population of other territories – stated the Secretary of Science and Technology, Thereza Paiva.
There are 25 Navezinhas Cariocas that operate from Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 17 pm. The spaces have notebooks, audiovisual equipment and free internet access with guidance from a support team for users. Since the opening of the first unit, in March of this year, the Navezinhas have already issued 3.758 certificates to students approved in the courses.
– When I started the audiovisual course, I was a bit lost, but determined. The course has a unique feature: instead of editing on complex platforms, we learn how to create something spectacular with creativity and only with our cell phones. I am an Advertising and Marketing student and audiovisual is essential in my field. I started showing the videos I created during classes at Navezinha in job interviews. I got not only one, but two internships and everyone was amazed by the work. I hope more people have the chance to live this transformative experience – said Rafaela Neves, 24, a student at the Rio das Pedras unit.
Among the courses and workshops offered by Navezinhas Cariocas are: Introduction to Excel, Basic Computing, Introduction to ChatGPT, Photography, Robotics, Game Development, Microsoft Word, PC Assembly, Video Production for Social Networks, CV Creation, among others.
– I graduated from technical high school with a degree in Telecommunications. I became interested in working in the IT field, and Navezinha has helped me get closer and closer to my dream. The unit is necessary for the Pedra de Guaratiba community, as it opens many doors for people who want to learn more about the IT field and, especially, for those who want to enter this sector. Many of the courses offered at the unit were only available in distant locations, which makes the importance of Navezinha Carioca in our region even more evident – reported student Neemias Christensen, 18 years old.
