Knowledge Hubs offer 4.788 places in various free courses.

According to the municipal secretary of Science, Technology and Innovation, Tatiana Roque, this year alone 65.780 certificates have been issued in different courses to students at facilities located mainly in the North and West Zones of the city.
– The Naves are democratic spaces for knowledge and innovation. In them, we promote digital inclusion, technology training, and professional development so that everyone can face the challenges of a constantly changing job market. A year ago, we inaugurated the first public Gamer Arena in the Nave do Engenhão, and we are bringing esports to other Naves – explained Tatiana Roque.
Workshops for all ages
The centers offer a variety of courses for all ages. At the Engenhão center, for example, there are courses in photography, artificial intelligence, animation, and more. At the Nova Brasília center, there are courses in Canva for children, a gaming club, and an introduction to robotics. At the Penha center, there are courses on sustainability, managing free email accounts, and Excel. In Rocinha, there are workshops on laptops, PowerPoint, and entrepreneurship. – We aim to offer courses in diverse areas and seek to adapt them to the demands of the territories. And, in 2026, thanks to new partnerships we are establishing with institutions like Senac, we will be making new workshops available – said the Undersecretary for Training and Technological Projects of the Municipal Secretariat of Science, Technology and Innovation, Gabriel Medina.

Entrepreneur Nilza Vargas, 75, was taken to the Nave do Conhecimento (Knowledge Ship) at Engenhão by her friend Cinira, her neighbor in Méier. Born and raised in Morro do Tuiuti, in São Cristóvão, the retired accountant has always enjoyed challenges. After her separation and when her daughter Viviane turned 15, she went to study Accounting at Moraes Júnior, in the city center. At the Nave do Engenhão, she enrolled in an entrepreneurship course.
– Education transforms, and the Nave discovers hidden talents. I often say that dreams don't die, they just fall asleep. It's always time to start, and that's what I did. Since I've always enjoyed sewing, I started making rag dolls and also dresses with the same print as their clothes for children – recalled the owner of the newly created Nilzartes atelier, who will participate in an entrepreneurship fair on the 5th, in front of the Nave do Conhecimento at Engenhão.
Like her, Nilza Maria Martins, 72, is also a warrior. She became a "doctor," as her grandmother Juraci wanted, and graduated in Accounting Sciences from Gama Filho University in Piedade. She worked in different companies, raised her daughter Ana Paula, overcame breast cancer, and today dreams of returning to the job market.
– As a child once joked, the Nave is better than eating hot chocolate under a blanket. It's a space for self-improvement, socialization, and the realization of dreams. The teachers' teaching methods are wonderful – praised the resident of Abolição, who took courses in basic computer skills, Canva, and Instagram.
For architect Gilda Cândido de Oliveira, 58, the Knowledge Centers are not just a place for learning, but also for exchanging ideas with other students and teachers.
"At Naves, you see that you can learn at any age. You lose your fear of using a computer, it demystifies things. You learn to look at others, to help, to have patience," says the resident of Quintino, who has already taken courses in financial education, artificial intelligence, Excel, photography, among many others.
