– Our main goal is to make it possible, through education, to increase the income of families in Rio. And the Empreenda.Rio program, which will be held at Naves do Conhecimento and Navezinhas Cariocas, makes this idea a reality. This partnership between the Municipal Department of Science, Technology and Innovation and the Municipal Department of Labor and Income is very important to make education a tool for increasing monthly income, an excellent opportunity for those who want to follow the path of entrepreneurship – said the Secretary of Science, Technology and Innovation, Tatiana Roque.

The course uses the By Necessity methodology, which has already trained more than 172 people in 28 countries. Divided into ten simple steps, the method allows the opening of small businesses with little or no initial investment. There are five days of in-person classes, during which students learn about financial management, cash flow, pricing and marketing, among other important topics, and prepare their own business plan.

After the classes, participants receive an exclusive logo and also have access to three months of personalized (and also free) consulting with experts. In these meetings, which can be held online or in person, students can ask questions, solve initial challenges and make the necessary adjustments to boost their businesses.

Launched in October 2024, Empreenda.Rio has already trained 315 people in vulnerable situations in Rio de Janeiro. The project is promoted by the Municipal Secretariat of Labor and Income in partnership with Agência Besouro and supported by the Municipal Secretariat of Science, Technology and Innovation.
