The Municipal Secretariat of Science and Technology (SMCT) was present with two actions at the Rio2C 2023 Event, the largest creativity event in Latin America, which brought together big names from the audiovisual, music and innovation markets, between April 8th and 14th, at Cidade das Artes, in Barra da Tijuca, in the West Zone of the city.

On Wednesday (12/4), SMCT, in partnership with Rio2C, held the panel “Science and Society: Paths to face the great challenges of our time”. The debate was attended by the municipal secretary of Science and Technology, Tatiana Roque, and other scientists. The objective of the panel was to relate science and technology to the great challenges of the XNUMXst century, such as the crisis of democracy and denialism, the climate emergency, the impacts of artificial intelligence, among other topics.

Another action promoted by the department was carried out on Saturday (15/4), when students from Naves do Conhecimento, who are participating in the XNUMXth COR Challenge (Innovation Program of the Rio Operations Center in partnership with SMCT), were taken to see the event accompanied by Secretary Tatiana Roque. The COR Challenge consists of presenting real problems in the city to participants who are challenged to solve them through a journey of technology and innovation.

– Being part of an event of this magnitude is important to create dreams. At Naves, we try to show them that people from less privileged areas of the city, with structure and encouragement, can face the challenges of Technology – said the Secretary of Science and Technology, Tatiana Roque.

The students are from the Game Development courses, offered free of charge at Naves, and focused on creating a culture of prevention for sustainability. They had the opportunity to interact and learn about Rio2C for the first time.
