The Barra da Tijuca Subprefecture and the Parks and Gardens Foundation are holding a major event on Thursday morning (22/6) to celebrate Environment Month at the first Parque do Jardim Oceânico, in Barra da Tijuca. During the event, seedlings of native vegetation previously determined by the Parks and Gardens Foundation will be distributed and planted, with the aim of providing more shade to visitors to the Parque, which is located near the Marapendi Canal viaduct, at the beginning of Rua Coronel Euríco de Sousa Gomes Filho.
Comlurb will support the event and will bring a selective collection outreach team, which will set up a tent to distribute informative pamphlets. Technicians from the area will also answer questions and provide guidance to the public about the service. The event will feature the Chegando de Surpresa group, made up of street cleaners who use music and dance in awareness campaigns about correct disposal.
The goal is to increase the population's participation in separating potentially recyclable materials at home, in addition to reinforcing selective collection routes. Currently, door-to-door collection is done once a week, on alternate days to household collection. The population can find out about the collection day and time on each street using this link.
