Comlurb has prepared a special scheme for household and selective waste collection for Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve throughout the city. On December 24 and 31, collection times will be exceptionally early, so that street cleaners have the opportunity to celebrate the dates with their families. The company asks for the public's cooperation by placing garbage bags at the collection points at the scheduled time. Comlurb is distributing information cards to residents door-to-door about the changes.

With this change, nighttime household collection on streets in the South Zone (excluding Copacabana), Downtown, Port Zone, North Zone and West Zone will be brought forward to 15 pm on December 24 and 31. /12. In Copacabana, nighttime household collection on 24/12 will be brought forward to 15 pm. And nighttime collection on 31/12 will be transferred to January 1, starting at 7 am. Nighttime household collection in the neighborhood on January 1 will be normal. All nighttime selective collection on December 24 and 31 (Saturday) will be brought forward, respectively, to the same days, starting at 15 pm.

It is important that everyone collaborates by placing trash and recyclable materials for collection close to the time the Comlurb truck arrives, thus preventing waste from being left on the street unduly, which could result in a fine for the offender.
