The Ecoponto Praça da Paloma is located in the Alemão Complex - Disclosure Comlurb inaugurated, this Thursday morning (25/9), the Ecoponto Praça da Paloma, at Rua Antônio Austregésilo, 331, in Complexo do Alemão. With this unit, the Company has a total of 83 ecopoints launched since 2022. This public policy to combat the formation of critical points of irregular disposal in the city has already accounted for 20% less garbage thrown on the streets, corresponding to approximately 1.600 tons of waste per day that now have the correct destination.
"Irregular waste disposal sites, especially in communities, have been combated through Comlurb's public policy of installing recycling points, combined with the distribution of large containers, which already total 12. These recycling points are not merely waste disposal sites. They are part of the company's strategic plan. They involve removing illegal waste from the streets for collection," emphasized Comlurb president Jorge Arraes.
The new facility features a compactor for household waste and two multipurpose bins for rubbish and unusable goods, such as unused furniture, mattresses, appliances, and tree branches. The inauguration was attended by the Chegando de Surpresa group, street cleaners who use music and dance in awareness campaigns for proper waste disposal. Arraes notes that the company's goal is to have 100 recycling points by the end of the year and 22 large containers installed throughout the city. In addition to helping with waste management, the recycling points also prevent the proliferation of vectors, improving residents' quality of life and public health.
