Comlurb opens two more recycling points, bringing the total to 88 since 2022

Comlurb opened the Acari and Pedreira recycling centers in the North Zone this Friday (October 24th). This brings the company's total of 88 recycling centers across the city since 2022. Both communities now have a compactor for household waste and two multipurpose ones for rubble and unusable goods, such as furniture, mattresses, and unused appliances, as well as tree branches. Due to the volume of discarded material, the Acari unit also received a fourth, larger container.

The company's goal is to reach 100 recycling points by the end of the year. In addition to helping with waste management, recycling points also prevent disease infestation, improving residents' quality of life and public health.

In addition to the inauguration of the recycling point, Comlurb also implemented the Responsible Community program for Acari, which reinforces urban cleaning, with the presence of 60 street cleaners and various services: sweeping, waste collection and removal, weed and grass cutting, and hydraulic cleaning with recycled water and soap.

 

With the opening of recycling points and the installation of high-capacity containers throughout the city, Comlurb aims to further contribute to reducing illegal waste disposal at critical points in the city. Today, the company has already recorded 20% less trash thrown on the streets, corresponding to approximately 1.600 tons of waste being disposed of properly every day.

This year alone, Comlurb has already launched 27 recycling points: São Carlos, in Estácio; Vila dos Sonhos, in Caju; Biquinha, in Vidigal; Jupará, in Mangueira; Bandeirantes Housing Complex, in the César Maia Community; Campo Grande, on Maria Teresa Street; São Tomé, in Santa Cruz; Rocinha; Chácara do Céu, in Borel; Fazendinha, in the Alemão Complex; Golden Eagle, in Inhaúma; Chácara do Céu, in Leblon; Proletário Park, in the Penha Complex; Jardim Novo, in Realengo; Catiri, in Bangu; Karate – New Houses, in the City of God; Barreira do Vasco, in São Cristóvão; 4 Bicas, in Penha Circular; Via Light, in Rio das Pedras; Kelson, in Penha; Vitória Régia in Lagoa; Paloma Square, in the Alemão Complex; Providence, in Santo Cristo; Gurada, in Del Castilho; Cinco Marias, in Guaratiba; Acari; and Pedreira, in Fazenda Botafogo.
